Dr. Timmermans is a partner of the Dutch law firm of Timmermans & Simons International Business Lawyers.

The firm focuses on Eastern Europe. Fields of expertise include International business law; Corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions; International commercial arbitration; Transport law; Public-Private Partnerships; other fields of law that are relevant for international business.

Apart from providing legal advice to private business, Dr. Timmermans extends assistance to legal reform and privatization in transition countries. Such assistance is fulfilled in the framework of technical assistance project sponsored by the European Commission (Phare and Tacis programs), World Bank, ABD, EBRD, Dutch Government, and other sponsors. Timmermans fulfilled legal reform and privatization projects in most countries of the CIS and East and Central Europe.

He acted as a legal advisor to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade for the reform of Russian bankruptcy law, including insolvency of credit organizations. Currently, he is advising the Russian Supreme Arbitrazh Court on amending the law on the state registration of legal entities, and Russian court bailiffs on strengthening enforcement proceedings in Russia.
