Dirk Ahner is a German economist and former EU official. He studied economics in Bochum, graduated in 1972 and in 1976 a doctorate in Tübingen. Two years later he entered the service of the European Commission, initially in the Directorate-General for Agriculture, in which he went through a career to the deputy-passing-General (2003 to 2006). In January 2007 he took over the management of the Directorate-General for Regional Policy. he entered the retirement end 2011th.
